  • A pair of Clown Anemonefish, Amphiprion percula, cavort among the tentacles of their host sea anemone. In a perfect example of symbiosis, the anemonefish aquire immunity to their host's stinging tentacles, which are lethal to most other fish. The anemonefish enjoy safe shelter among the tentacles, and reciprocate by defending their host from other predators. The anemonefish is immune to the tentacles' sting, allowing it to hide from predatory fish that avoid the tentacles. The anemone also benefits, as the anemonefish will fiercely defend its host.
